Mo’ Mojo has been around a long long time.   We were started back in the 90s by a long, tall, lanky Texan from Orange by the name of Scott “Texas” Gann.  Scott died way too young and early back in 2002.  The band has been carrying on his memory since then, honoring him the best we can.   We still use his two accordions at every show.

The band has persevered through what we call  “the 3 Ds:  Death, Divorce, and Drugs.”  One original member remains (Jen Maurer), although a couple are still around for special appearances (Rob Lubline, Mike Lenz).   We have a large community of folks that have played with us, and folks that have subbed with us, and we are extremely grateful for all of them!   Someday we’ll make a movie, lol.

Mo’ Mojo is a spontaneous, uplifting, and kid-friendly “Pardi Gras” band that seeks to create a sense of community through dance.

This female-fronted group defies genre labeling by incorporating many sounds from Louisiana, including traditional and original Zydeco, Cajun, New Orleans Blues, New Orleans R&B, and Mardi Gras music.

Mo’ Mojo’s songs range in subject matter but ever present is the idea of connection, exemplified by titles such as “Together in Love We Drown,” and “We All Got the Same.”

One of NEOH’s longest running bands (since the mid 90s), Mo’ Mojo has performed at festivals, concert series, clubs, and dances across the U.S.

The band has served as U.S. State Department musical ambassadors, sharing their value of community and connectedness all over the world.

Our current lineup is:

Jen Maurer (lead vocals, accordion, guitar)

Leigh Ann Wise (vocals, rubboard, percussion, trumpet)

Joe Wayand (keys)

Joe Golden (electric guitar)

Toussaint English (bass guitar)

Danny Jenkins (drums)

Sam Rettman (harmonica, sax, roadman extraordinaire)
